This Blog will deal with the Proposed Red Routes of the Queens Bus Redesign. The Purpose of the Red Routes is Moving rapidly across the County. In the last 2 blogs, I discussed the Proposed Blue & Purple Routes. As I read this Proposal, the Blue Routes are your Select Bus Service Routes & your Purple Routes are your Limited Routes. The Red & Green Routes would be your Local Routes.

The Proposed Q10 would connect LGA Marine Air Terminal with Queens Center Mall via 81st & 82nd Streets, Hampton Street, 90th & 92nd Streets. Going to Queens Center Mall, the Proposed Q10 would travel along 59th Avenue to Junction Blvd to 62nd Drive to Queens Blvd. Going to LGA Airport Air Marine Terminal, the Propsed Q10 would travel along Queens Blvd to 90th Streets. Overall, I Like this Route. I also like the fact that this route will be a 24/7 Route. This Route SHOULD Operate out of LGA Depot

The Proposed Q11 would travel between East Elmhurst & Fresh Meadows. The Route would travel along the Current Q23 Route between East Elmhurst & Queens Blvd in Forest Hills. The Route would then travel along Queens Blvd to Union Turnpike. The Route would then travel on Union Turnpike along the Current Q46 Route between Queens Blvd & 188th Street & then along 188th Street to 64th Avenue in Fresh Meadows. I am Impressed with this Proposed Route. I Like the Fact that this Route would be 24/7. The Only Recommendation I offer is to extend this Route into LGA Airport & to serve the ENTIRE Airport. This Route SHOULD Operate out of LGA Depot

The Proposed Q12 would travel between Queens Center Mall & Queensboro Commuinty College via the Long Island Expressway Service Road. I like the Fact that this will be a 24/7 Route. I offer a few Suggestions. Extend the Q12 from Queensboro Community Colege to Little Neck Parkway in Little Neck via the Long Island Expressway Service Road. IN the Queens Center Mall area of the Route, ALL Buses would take Long Island Expressway Service Road to 94th Street, 94th Street to 57th Avenue, 57th Avenue to Queens Blvd & then Queens Blvd to the Woodhaven Blvd Subway Station. Going to Little Neck, ALL Buses would take Queens Blvd to the Long Island Expressway Service Road. When Queensboro Community College is OPEN, ALL Buses in both Directions would take the Long Island Expressway Service Road to Springfield Blvd, Springfield Blvd to to College, Stop to Drop off & Pick Up & then head back to Springfield Blvd & then to the Long Island Expressway Service Road. When the College is Closed, ALL Buses would bypass the College. This Route SHOULD operate out of Casey Stengel Depot. The Proposed Q14 would combine the Current Q10 & Q64 Bus Routes. The Proposed Q14 would connect the Lefferts Blvd Airtrain Station with Electchester. I Like this Route. I LOVE the Fact that it will be a 24/7 Route. This Route SHOULD Operate out of JFK Depot.

The Proposed Q15 would operate between Bayside Hills & College Point via the Current Q27, Q65 & Q25 Routes. I Like the Idea. I LIke the Fact that this will be a 24/7 Route. The Only Change is that when Queensboro Community College is Closed, ALL Buses would bypass the College & when the College is Open, ALL Buses would Stop @ The College. This Route SHOULD operate out of College Point Depot. The Proposed Q16 would replace the Current Q34 Route. I LOVE the Fact that this will be a 24/7 Route. This Route SHOULD operate out of the College Point Depot.

The Proposed Q17 would replace the Current Q12 & Q13 Routes. The Route would travel along the Current Q13 Route between Downtown Flushing & along Northern Blvd to Utopia Parkway & then along the Current Q12 between Utopia Parkway, along Northern Blvd to Marathon Parkway & then Marathon Parkway to the Long Island Expressway Service Road & then the Long Island Service Road to Little Neck. I offer 2 Suggestions. Keep the Bus along Northern Blvd to Little Neck Parkway. The other Suggestion is to Extend the Q17 from Little Neck to Glen Oaks via Little Neck Parkway & 260th Street to the Proposed New Terminal @ the Glen Oaks Oval. This Route SHOULD Operate out of the Casey Stengel Depot.

The Propsed Q18 would travel between Springfield Gardens & Oakland Gardens via Merrick Blvd & Hillside Avenue. The Route starts @ Merrick & Springfield Blvd & travels along Merrick Blvd to Jamaica. Between Hillsice Avenue & Liberty Avenue the Q18 travels along Merrick Blvd coming FROM Hillside Avenue & Travels along 168th Street TO Hillside Avenue. The Q18 would then Travel along Hillside Avenue to/from Springfield Blvd. I SUPPORT this Part of the Route. I have a few Suggestions. The Current Proposal is to have the Q18 take Springfield Blvd to the Last Stop @ Union Turnpike, which Makes NO Sense. How is the Bus supposed to Turn Around? Here is My Proposal: The Q18 would take Hillside Avenue to Braddock Avenue, Braddock Avenue to Jerico Turnpike, Jerico Turnpike to Little Neck Parkway & then Little Neck Parkway to the New Terminal @ LIttle Neck Parkway & 260th Street in Glen Oaks. The Bus would be able to Turn around just North of Grand Central Parkway. The CURRENT Proposal Eliminates Service on Braddock Avenue & this Suggestion would Restore Service on Braddock Avenue. The CURRENT Proposal eliminates Bus Service in Glen Oaks except for Express Bus Service during Peak Hours ONLY. This Suggestion for BOTH the Q17 & Q18 would give the People of Glen Oaks a Choice of Service to BOTH Flushng OR Jamaica. This Route SHOULD Operate out of Queens Village Depot.

The Proposed Q19 would operate between the Parsons Blvd. F Train Station in Jamaica & Farmers Blvd in Springfield Gardens via Guy R. Brewer Blvd. This Route basically goes along the Current Q111 Route. I Like the Fact that it would be a 24/7 Route. This Route SHOULD Operate out of the Baisley Park Depot. The Proposed Q20 would replace the Current Q6 Route. I would suggest that the Terminal would be @ the Lefferts Blvd Airtrain Station. This Route SHOULD operate out of the JFK Depot.

The Proposed Q58 would Travel along the Majority of the Current Q58 Route. The ONLY Change is that the NEW Q58 would travel along 108th Street & Roosevelt Avenue to/from Flushing which I FULLY Support & am HAPPY that it will continue to be a 24/7 Route. This Route SHOULD Operate out of the Casey Stengel Depot. The Proposed Q66 is being Cut from Queens Plaza in Long Island City to Northern Blvd & Broadway in the Woodside. I Propose having the Q66 continue along Northern Blvd. Northern Blvd goes into Jackson Avenue in Long Island City. The Q66 would take Northern Blvd to Jackson Avenue & then Jackson Avenue & EXTENDED to the Ferry Terminal in Long Island City. In the Flushing area, the Q66 would take Northern Blvd to Main Street. The LAST Stop would be the Current Q17 (Jamaica) & Q27 (Cambria Heights) Bus Stops. The Q66 would take Main Street to Kissena Blvd, Kissena Blvd to Sanford Avenue, Sanford Avenue to Main Street & then Main Street to the First Stop 2 Main Street & Roosevelt Avenue. This Route SHOULD Operate out of Casey Stengel Depot.

The Proposed Q69 is the Same Route BUT I DO LIKE, SUPPORT & AGREE with extending the Q69 from Queens Plaza to the Ferry Terminal. The Proposed Q69 operates 18 Hours on Weekdays & 17 Hours on Weekends. I HOPE in time, this Route will become a 24/7 Route. This Route SHOULD Continue to Operate out of LGA Depot. The Proposed Q72 would still operate to Rego Park & would still be the Junction Blvd. Route. This Route SHOULD Continue to operate to/from LGA Airport & Serve the ENTIRE Airport. The Proposal would have the Q72 Terminate in East Elmhurst, OUTSIDE LGA Depot. This Route would operate 19 Hours on Weekdays & 17 Hours on Weekends. I HOPE this Route can become a 24/7 Route. This Route SHOULD operate out of LGA Depot.

Those are MY Thoughts on the Proposed Queens Bus Redesign Red Routes. IN the Next Blog, I will give YOU MY Thoughts on the Proposed Green Routes.
