The Richmond Light & Railroad Company was the largest street railway company on Staten Island (the borough of Richmond in New York City ) from 1902 until the 1920s, operating a system in northeastern Staten Island. It was incorporated in 1902 as a reorganization of the Staten Island Electric Railroad . In 1925, the Richmond Light & Railroad Co. organized a subsidiary, the Staten Island Coach Company , with the intent of turning over its streetcar lines to the subsidary to be operated as bus routes, but the latter company never received authority to operate buses until 1933. In 1927, the Richmond Light & Railroad Co. changed its name to Richmond Railways .
