The Metropolitan Transportation Authority operates a number of bus routes in New York City, {{Wikipedia reference|United States]]. Express buses operated by the New York City Transit Authority or Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority are assigned an express (x) prefix, while those operated by the MTA Bus Company are assigned multi-borough (for instance QM) prefixes. The QBx1, a local MTA Bus Company route, is also assigned a multi-borough prefix.
