|Only 6360 was delivered. It ran in 2001 for about 6 months, and was withdrawn from service because of numerous problems and issues, including the exit of NovaBus from the United States market. This was one of five (#6360-6364) that were supposed to be delivered, but only #6360, which actually saw service, and #6361, which was never delivered, were actually built. This bus was a Hybrid-Electric bus with an electric motor, generator, Propulsion Control System (PCS), and roof-mounted battery storage packs, and featured regenerative braking.

[[Category:Bus transportation in New York City|Models]]

Revision as of 07:07, 5 July 2019

Please disregard this entire page as it is hopelessly out of date ... :-(

The New York City Transit Authority and its subsidiary, the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority (hereafter called New York City Transit) operate approximately 4550 buses, and MTA Bus runs approximately another 1,300 buses within New York City, parts of southwestern Yonkers, NY and parts of Nassau County, NY.

MTA NYC Transit (and more recently, MTA Bus Company) have ordered buses from General Motors Corporation (GMC), Transportation Manufacturing Corporation (TMC), Orion, New Flyer, NovaBus, and Motor Coach Industries (MCI). The MTA has also tested buses from other manufacturers throughout the years.

A summary of buses follows below, listing buses used by NYC Transit since 1980, and equipment inherited and purchased new by MTA Bus. Not included in this list is the paratransit fleet. For buses ordered before 1980, see here.

Retired buses

All production buses purchased new by NYC Transit since 1981 are accessible and are also fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
