The Red Line is a subway line for the Los Angeles County Metro Rail that connects Hollywood with downtown LA. This line comes to be with the Purple Line from Wilshire/Vermont, just west of Downtown, to Union Station. The 2 lines have an average of about 155,000 commuters a day.
The line starts at Union Station and goes southwest through downtown stopping near the Civic Centre and near Pershing Square at another stop. The trains travel the Financial District. Transfer for Blue Line at 7th Street. That is not the end. Trains travel under Pico Boulvebard and Westlake Avenue. The 2 lines stop being together at Wilshire/Vermont. Trains travel Under Vermont, and under Hollywood Blvd, too. Then, trains cross into San Fernando, where North Hollywood station is.
The first train leaves to Union at 431 and the last one at 054. The first train leaves to North Hollywood at 430 and the last one at 017
The line uses BREDA A650 trains. cars 530 and up have a Washington style acceleration and deceleration. Cars 529 and down have a Madrid style acceleration and deceleration.
MOS 1 from Union to Westlake opened in 1993
MOS 2 from Westlake to Hollywood/Vine opened in 1999
MOS 3 from Hollywood Vine to North Hollywood opened in 2000
